Black Tea Rinse

Last night i finally bit the bullet and did a black tea rinse, i dont really know if it worked as far as prevention of shedding yet but i can say that i'll adopt it into my reggie even if it hasn't. For those who aren't familiar with a black tea rinse, its a rinse with black tea lol. The caffiene in the tea is known to help slow down or prevent the hair from shedding, it makes the hair stronger. Some people do coffee rinses, but i opted to do the black tea because im not too sure i want coffee in my hair, lol. I also read that people do black tea rinses to darken hair.

Why did i do this you might ask? Well I have a shedding problem, a big one at that. One of the main reasons why i keep my hair in protective styles is because my hair sheds so much I don't really like to wear it down much. I know that its natural for your hair to shed at least 50-100 hairs a day, but i also know of natural divas that have stopped shedding all together. I really don't care if my hair stops shedding completely, i just want to reduce the amount of hair that does shed.

Like i said i won't know if my hair has stopped/slowed down on the shedding because my hair is in a protective style right now, but what i did notice immediately was that my hair was softer, curl pattern was more defined, and my hair was darker. All of these are postives in my book!

How To Do A Black Tea Rinse (you don't need any fancy tea, regular lipton will do)

Well obviously you need tea, just like your going to make a cup of tea, but you want it strong. it all depends on the person on how much you want. Once you've made your tea detangle hair throughly and pour it over your head evenly, make sure you get the roots. After you've poured it all over your head apply your favorite conditioner and DC. Some people do it differently but this is how i learnt how to do it, and i dont see anything wrong with this method.

Natural Hair Fad?

Lately I've been noticing an abundance of natural ladies, whether its around the store, Internet and even campus. Is it me, or is it because I'm natural and embracing my curls that I'm noticing. Then i began to ask myself, is this some type of fad? I mean things like this happen all the time, but its rare that we see this much change in the African American community.

I was thinking, had any celebrities gone natural lately? YES Soloange did a "Big Chop" not to long ago and inspired many women to make the change. Also Chrisette Michele began to rock her natural curls recently, so is it these ladies that's changing so many minds? Or are we collectively becoming more aware of the extremities we are going to for our beauty? I really hope that natural hair doesn't turn into a fad, or fashion because it really is a change of lifestyle.
What do you all think? Im curious, will you go back to the creamy crack or continue to stay natural? When you get to feel bored with your hair what will you do?

Late-Night Inspiration

Updating Yall

Not much has been going on since ive taken my twists down. I've just been rocking a plain ol bun like back in the good ol days, but i can't keep doin it cus i dont want to get used to it. I think Imma do a cute style or something, switch things up a bit. But I'm doin a oil hot treatment right now cus the scalp is dry, plus i'm running out of shea butter, if i haven't already. Who wants to get it for my birthday/christmas?
