On Track To Healthy Ends

I am on the hunt for healthy ends! Although i have been natural my whole life, just the beginning of this year i got really interested in natural hair and how to grow it to its potential. I dont have an ideal goal for my hair, i dont want to be apl by a certain date because i know that you can't control your hair growth. I just want healthy hair, from root to end.

So i am on a mission for a natural product that heals my damaged ends. My ends are thin and breaking off, i almost feel as though im transitioning from relaxed to natural. In a way i am transitioning from my hair being damaged and heat trained to healthily natural.

Im going to try and review a couple of natural oils that help keep my ends protected. I will also continue to keep my hair in protected styles to protect my ends.

Until next time

Deep Conditioning

Who ever said you can't deep condition while in a protective style? NO ONE! because that is exactly what i did. I work at a waterpark and we had a team member party last night after the park closed. I got into the water and had a good ol time not worrying about my hair, which alot of women with natural, or relaxed worry about.

so when the fun was over, i came home hopped in the shower rinsed my hair and slapped in some of that good conditioner! (which i need to pick some more up btw) and when i say i deep conditioned, i deep conditioned! i know alot of people leave their conditioner in for a set amount of time; say 30 mins to an hour and then take it out. i real on a blog not too long ago, (can't remember the name either) that your hair will determine whether or not the its ready for the conditioner to be take out. it continued to say that you will know your hair is ready when its silky smooth and feels like butter. and for me to get that effect i dc over night.

in the morning when i woke up my hair felt like magic! it was smooth, great!

btw my protective style for the rest of this month was a fail because it was beginning to get a bit tangled in the middle. so i had to take it down,im going to rock the twist out for the weekend, but next week im going to but another style in.

the top is a picture of my twist out, but you can't see becase my computer is stupid!

till next time

Baggy Method Success!

So yesterday i told yall about my baggy method that i was going to do. It turned out to be a success!! I am super happy about that!! Let me just remind yall what i did last night. I moisturized with Darcy's Botanticals leave in conditioner. Then sealed with my oil mix of tea tree oil and olive oil. Then i put my hair in a pony and put a plastic bag with the oil over the end of my pony.

When i woke up this morning and took the plastic bag and i could automatically tell that my ends were moisturized like none before. It was great i am defiantly going to incorporate this into my regimen. I need something to keep my ends looking fresh as the rest of my hair, and this technique defiantly will do that.

Then i thought, i need to do a style thats going to keep my ends protected, because that's all im about this summer, keeping my ends as well as the rest of my hair protected. Because i've come to the conclusion from much research that the less manipulation the more your hair grows, so thus protective styles this summer. So i already have the two strand twists that im rockin, so i slapped it in a quick bun.

Thats all for today,

First Baggy!

I've been hearing about the bagging technique for some time now, but i never knew quite what it was. So i searched on the youtube like i do everything else and i found out how to do a correct baggy method, or at least what other people have done. So i moisturized with some darcy's botanicals leave in conditioner. (which btw isn't my favorite but i use because i paid for it)

Any whoo, i moisturized with the db leave in conditioner, and sealed with my oil mix, tea tree oil and olive oil. i then put my hair in a pony tail and put some oil in the bag then wrapped the bag over my pony. i'm not sure what to expect once i wake up in the morning, i hope to incorporate this into my regimen. if it comes out remotely good i will put this into my reggy at least twice a week.

FYI, im still rockin my two strand twists, but i re-did them this time with castor oil. im going to continue using the castor oil so i can do a proper review. so far im loving it, besides the thick texture which i can get used to, i can already tell how soft its making my hair. my next post will be a review on castor oil and tea tree oil hopefully.

until then

Two Strand Twists

I have not abandoned this blog, just spending a little time getting my self together, but let me inform yall on what i am currently rocking. As the title says i've got some good ol' two strand twists, nothing fancy, no type of style or anything just some twists, that i happen to put in a style everyday or so. I've had them in since thursday night and plan on keeping them for the rest of the month.

they are about medium size, as you can tell in the picture to the right. But i went to the health food store today and got some products for my hair. im real excited to use, i got tea tree oil and some castor oil, so i will let yall know how it goes on my hair, how i use and so forth.

well thats all for today, just wanted to share my twists, and if i find some kind of funky style i will let yall know. until next time

Pre-Poo & CoWash Regimen

So today i did a much needed hot oil treatment and a deep condition (which is still under way as i type)

First i started off by applying the hot oil treatment with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I brought the water to a boil, placed the water in a measuring cup and put the oil in the cup and let it heat up. I then applied the oil all over my head and sat with a plastic bag over my head for about two hours.

Second i Rinsed out the oil and applied the conditioner mix i concocted with extra virgin olive oil, honey and my koret amen carols daugther conditioner

Currently i am sitting under my bonnet dryer and im going to sleep with the conditioner in my hair and rinse in the morning and style, maybe some twists i have no idea, i'll do what ever i see fit for tomorrow since i have to work.

But i just wanted to share my current regimen, it will probably change but i will keep this up for the month of june and update yall on what i do from here on out. My next post will be a style

My Natural Story

Hi!,

I'm Ashlee, I'm 18 and currently awaiting my first fall semester of college at Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs!). Any whoo lets get to the meat of this thing! The HAIR!!!

I've been natural my whole life, yes 18 years and no perm, never had a choice, my mother never put a perm in my hair, and i am ever so grateful that she didn't. As i stated before i never got a perm, i thought i was the only one on the face of the earth that had never done that, until about a couple of months ago when i started searching online and youtube how to style and wear natural hair, and the rest was history! I didn't know that this was such a large community full of helpful websites, blogs, videos, books, etc. You name it someone in the natural hair community has it!

In the beginning of the year i started recording videos. It was an epic fail, this time around I'm going to approach things a bit differently, by taking them slowly. Showing you all what my regimens are (if in deed have any) and posting pictures of my styles and what not. I hope this works out, not only will it give me the initiative to start taking better care of my hair, but it will also give me something to do, since i do nothing but work and come home and hop on the computer.

So here we go, hopefully this will be a start to a beautiful life.... :)
