Its getting colder here in MS especially up here in starkville, a different stupid cold/hot then cold again weather. My hair gets really dry in the winter time which means i need to kick up the moisture level. I've never really taken care of my hair in its natural state while in the winter time so this is going to be an experience for me, as was the spring and summer. Usually what i would have done was straighten my hair more, which caused extra damage. So what I'm going to start incorportating into my weekly regimen is hot oil treatments, this will help seal that moisture that i need and hopefully my hair will be less dry. I'll let you know how this works. So far my hair hasn't been extremly dry, but then again it hasn't been really cold. Also i plan on wearing alot of hats, hopefully my hair won't suffer any damage from that either. This fall/winter will be a trial for me to see what works. Coming up in Jan will be my one year nappy-versary. I know i've been natural all my life, but i see this year as me embracing my natural curls and retaining the grow and health that i've always wanted... So that's why im calling it my nappy-versary lol..
until next time ladies/gents? :)

Mini Wal*Mart Haul
EVOO! Great for hot oil treatments and everything else, i haven't done a hot oil treatment in a long time, and EVOO is good and cheap unlike other pure oils that can be expensive. this can be found in any grocery store.
PhillyDiva on YT, always talks about blue magic organics and this is one of the products! its a non greasy formula, leave in conditioner. i'm excited to try it, although it does have mineral oil and petrolatum. there is nothing wrong with that right? well some people might have a problem with it, but i plan on putting some castor oil in it so it wont be as drying.

Some good ol' baking soda! I plan on using this to exfoliate my face and cleanse my scalp. This is the first time, i'll be using this so im excited.
Herbal Essences, Reconditioning Shampoo for dry/damaged hair. I was looking for a clarifying shampoo, but couldn't find any so i opted on this one. I haven't heard anything about it, so i guess i'll do a review. Herbal Essences has good products and i could always put honey or castor oil in it to jazz it up.
I've heard great things about this conditioner and i wanted to try it out. I was looking for conditioner with a lot in it because i use conditiner like no other. This is going to last me a good two months. Just like the Tresseme naturals. I'm trying to see which one i like better to use as a staple. I'm also trying to see which shampoo works for me too!.
That's about all ladies and gents i didn't get too much just the things that i needed/wanted. :)
until next time!

Long Hair = Beauty
Our society has this preconceived notion that long hair equals beauty, especially in the black hair community. My roommate and I were talking about this very thing and I started thinking: "Why do people think that long hair equals beauty?" Maybe its because women with long hair are always talked about? Maybe its because its repeated in songs that men only want women with long hair? Or maybe its because our parents tell us that long hair equals beauty as well. My roommate was telling me that she knew a girl whose father told her that long hair means your beautiful, so she never cut it. So does that mean women with short hair aren't beautiful? Is Amber Rose not beautiful?
I think that our society is just ridiculous when it comes to the standard of beauty. Skinny=beauty, little feet=beauty, long hair = beauty? So are you then saying that those women that have the exact opposite for what ever reason are ugly? Halle Berry is often thought of one of the most beautiful black women but she had short hair at one time. She made short pixie hair cute, but was it not cute before?
I jut want people to think about this when they say they want long hair. What are your reasons for wanting long hair? Why do you think long hair is associated with beauty? So many of us say "I don't want long hair, i just want healthy hair." But then we join forums and websites and buy ridiculous products that promises impeccable growth.
When people say, by people I mean the ones we look up to, the rappers, singers, actors, actresses, moms, dads, grandmas, when they tell us that long hair means that your pretty then that makes that girl with short hair insecure. Then you wonder why so many people have insecurities, because you put that in us. In a very popular song pretty bog swag by soulja boy he says "I'm lookin for a yellow bone, LONG HAIRED star." So is short dark skin not beautiful?
I really want people to think about what they say, and how they say it. What older people say and do now will reflect how our generations will view beauty for years to come. I could go on about this but I'm going to stop here.
Beauty comes in all different shapes, sizes, and lengths and if people can't realize that NOW in 2010 then we have a long way to come.
Until next time.

Quick & Easy Hair Protective Hair Styles
I am all about quick and easy, i live by that code. Especially when it comes to hair, it doesn't have to be cute, i don't care about impressing anyone when it comes to my hair because believe me my hair can get somewhat of mushroom looking at times.>>> But i could care less. So after i wash and condintion my hair i am always looking for something quick and easy to do. which usually comes out looking like this. <<<<>
- The Bun! When i do infact take my hair out of its sacred two fat two strand twists, i slap my hair in a good ole bun. Now this isn't to say that my hair is perfectly in a bun, i dont wet it or anything like i know a lot of naturals do. i just quickly and loosly put my hair in a bun. I dont like anything tight on my head, causes breakage. :)
2. The FRENCH BRAID!! Although i can never get my hair to go in one straight down the middle of my head like the picture. I usually do two of them much like my twists. I dont do them for the most part because im lazy and it takes sometime to get them the way i like it. Sometimes i mix the two, a bun and a french braid. I've dont it before. Just one in the front and a bun in the back, like this <<<
3. Flat Twists. You can do these any way you want to, one, two or several it doesn't matter. You can put them in a style or, if you are tryna make it quick, just do like i do and put a part in the middle of your head, twist, and go about your day!
None of these hairstyles are particular for any type of hair type of length. Especially the twists, if you can grab it then you can do it! You can make them as fun and cute as possible by jazzing it up with a cute accessory like a flower! (My signiture style!) So remember to keep and cute and most of all protective!
until next time ladies!
